We have all made News Year’s Resolutions and the fact is that up to 92% of people give up within the first 2 months. Many people make their resolutions with a genuine belief that they can accomplish them but come February the excitement wears off and other priorities begin to take precedence.

Whilst Accountability and Motivation are two words thrown about that stop people from fulfilling their News Year’s Resolutions and rightfully so! Sometimes we have to search a bit deeper and look at the reasons why we made these resolutions.

A lot of resolutions require changes in behaviour and let’s face facts most of us don’t have the willpower required to make those changes that are required before you have any hope of achieving your New Years Resolutions…  Another problem is that most of us create resolutions that are too ‘big’ and therefore we can’t meet them. Sometimes we commit ourselves to things that we think we should do, like running a marathon or going on a new unsustainable “fad diet” for example, but instead, we should be concentrating on things that are more achievable.

It is far better to succeed at a smaller, more manageable resolution than to fail at a larger, loftier one with unrealistic timeframes

The best resolutions are those that actually include a plan of action. You need to create a plan that will help you achieve your goals. Break your end goal down into smaller, weekly goals so you feel like you’re working towards something immediate. By doing so, you can keep yourself on track throughout the year and use the power of positive reinforcement to keep your momentum going.

If you are someone who has a higher success rate when you have outside support then get a friend who is committed, this creates accountability which is also essential for success. At PoP we have a sense of community and you are surrounded by people who are positive and inspired and everyone is treated as part of our Pilates family.

Our goal is to help you reach your goals and we do this by creating an inviting friendly & fun atmosphere that keeps you wanting to come back.
